The justifications for digital identification and biometric authentication are piling up. Of course, the banking industry would save billions avoiding identity theft issues, the medical industry would benefit by being able to access patient records instantly even if the patient is unconscious. It would have multiple practical applications.

Now, we see a new application for digital ID: election fraud.

Richard Higgins, former NSC member in the Trump administration, said some form of biometric authentication may be necessary in the future in order to avoid fraud and the fallout from contested elections in the future.

What is biometric authentication? In an 89 page document published by the G20, titled G20 Digital Identity Onboarding, a unique ID number is defined as:

Unique ID number (UIN): In the context of identification systems, a number that uniquely identifies a person—i.e., each person only has one UIN and no two people share the same UIN—for their lifetime. UINs are typically assigned after validating a person’s identity and statistical uniqueness through a process such as biometric deduplication. You can read more about this here.

I have many times theorized that the mark of the beast mentioned in Revelation 13:16-17 will be ushered in on familiar, practical wings:

16 He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17 so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

In our world, we are encountering increasing benefits–even the need for the means to secure our identities for all of the reasons listed above and more. This will only increase.
